TAREAN FOLSTON PAVES THE WAY FOR IRISH IN TIGHT WIN Tarean Folston wasn't Everett Gol- son's first or second option. Or his third or fourth. On the sophomore running back's 30-yard catch and run that set up Notre Dame's seventh and final touchdown in a 49-39 win over Navy, Golson ran through his progressions before finally settling on Folston to move the chains on a third-and-six play from the Navy 33-yard line. After a penalty set the Irish back five yards, Golson rushed it in from eight yards out to secure the victory and avoid disaster for the 7-1 Irish. "He was my last read," Golson said. "I was definitely reading one and two to the end of the field and three and four to the boundary, and he was five. NAVY GAME NOTES NOTRE DAME VS.
