She led the ACC in assist‑to‑turnover ratio (2.24) during the 2013‑14 campaign. • Freshman forward Brianna Turner, last year's Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year, was on both ACC newcomer watch lists. Joining that trio on the starting unit in preseason practice have been soph‑ Irish Roundup MEN'S SOCCER (9-4-3, 5-1-1 ACC) Notre Dame went 2-1-1 in a two-week span that featured as many Big Ten foes as it did conference opponents. Those Big Ten contests proved to be far more challenging. No. 8 Indiana topped the then-No. 1 Irish 1-0 on Oct. 22, and a week later No. 12 Michigan State tied No. 5 Notre Dame 1-1. In ACC action, the Irish topped Duke 4-1 on Oct. 17 and defeated Virginia Tech 3-1 on Oct. 25. WOMEN'S SOCCER (12-4-1, 7-2-0 ACC) Senior forward Lauren Bohaboy knocked in the lone goals in 1-0 victories over No. 20 Clemson and Louisville on Oct. 23 and 26, respectively. Bohaboy also made the game-sealing assist in a 2-0 victory over Syracuse on Oct. 18. The three conference victories extended No. 7 Notre Dame's winning steak to five games. WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING Notre Dame struggled when it headed southeast, losing matchups against Georgia Tech (157-143) and South Carolina (180-120) in a meet Oct. 17 in Atlanta. A day later, the Irish got a split against Auburn (a 192-102 loss) and Vanderbilt (a 152-142 victory) at Auburn. VOLLEYBALL (6-16, 2-8 ACC) Notre Dame topped Boston College 3-2 Oct. 19 to break up what would have turned into a seven-match losing streak. Following that victory, however, the Irish suffered 3-0 and 3-2 defeats to Virginia Tech and Virginia, respectively, on an eastern road trip Oct. 24-25. HOCKEY (4-2-0) After opening the season with a two-loss weekend, the Irish scored 23 goals in four games to sweep two games from both Lake Superior State on Oct. 17-18 and Niagara on Oct. 24-25. Junior wing Mario Lucia notched a hat trick in a 5-1 victory over the Lakers on Oct. 18. ROWING Notre Dame's women's championship four shaved 12 seconds off its time from a year ago in the Head of the Charles, finishing ninth to lead all Irish boats Oct. 19 in Cambridge, Mass. — Douglas Farmer
