2015 RECRUITING ISSUE BY MATT CARTER It is not always easy being in the spotlight, but if you are going to play football for Notre Dame then you bet- ter get used it. Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara head coach Keith Gogani- ous knows that firsthand. Goganious is not a former Irish player, but he did play for a high-pro- file, national-brand program at Penn State and was a third-round draft pick for the Buffalo Bills in 1992. He spent five years in the NFL. Goganious, a native of Virginia Beach, Va., knows that the local high school football followers pay special close attention to the regional pros- pects destined for a power five-cali- ber program. Such was the case with Notre Dame signee and Bishop McNa- mara corner Ashton White. "That's part of the deal when you are one of the top players in your area. Everybody knows who you are," Go- ganious said. "It's something you got to get used to. I don't think it bothered him. He wanted to live up to the ex- pectations, and I guess the so-called reputation." Part of the territory with being bound for Notre Dame and playing on an island at corner like Bishop McNa- mara used White is you also become a target for other receivers trying to make a name for themselves.
