Kelly confirmed during his National Signing Day press conference that Notre Dame felt comfortable whether or not it replaced Barnett during the 2015 cycle. "We were going to be okay if we didn't take a quarterback," he said. "Until I saw Brandon on film in his first couple games, and that changed my mind. It just totally changed my mind after I watched him. He just did so many of the things that I think a complete quarterback needs to do. "I was okay not taking a quarter- back, and we were going to pass for 2016, and then beauty is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to this po- sition.
