WHERE HAVE YOU GONE? and I've been okay." His endeavors included serving as a college football analyst for ABC Sports and a producer on ABC News. He is owner and president of Blue Atlas Productions, a promotional products distributor in New Jersey. He's also co- owner of Larkspur Lane, Ltd., a video television production company that has won 11 network Emmy Awards, two network news Emmys and four Pea- body Awards. He won an Emmy for "ABC 2000," coverage of the Millen- nium celebration around the world, and a Peabody for coverage of the 9/11 ter- rorist attacks. Although Gatewood will turn 65 on March 7, retirement to him would be like atrophy. He still does freelance pro- duction in Madison Square Garden for the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, and serves as a personal trainer and tennis pro — "my passion" — with a special bent toward instructing chil- dren. In addition, he is an advisory board member for the child health initiative "Healthy Children, Healthy Futures," launched by Strang Cancer Prevention Center and MetLife Foundation to reach into inner-city communities to help set groundwork for fitness and nutrition. He has volunteered for Minority Ath- letes Networking, Etc., a non-profit or- ganization that annually serves approxi- mately 5,000 inner-city youth through educational outreach and social activi- ties. He is humbled by his newest honor and appreciates the collective effort it took to get the award. "All the people that worked with me and advised me and influenced me … they're the ones who got me in this posi- tion," Gatewood said. "It's really about carrying all those people with you. When you get awards, the players say, 'Well, it's my teammates, it's my linemen …' "Yes, it really is." ✦ Theismann To Gatewood, Reunited Thom Gatewood is the 45th former Notre Dame player, along with six coaches, to be inducted into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame. Each of the last three Fighting Irish honorees were pass catchers, with tight end Dave Casper (2012) and wideout/ return man Tim Brown (2009) preceding Gatewood. Back in 2004, Gatewood's quarterback, Joe Theismann, was inducted. The Theismann-to-Gatewood duo is the lone Notre Dame passing combination since 1950 to be in the College Football Hall of Fame together. — Lou Somogyi Gatewood is the 45th former Notre Dame player, along with six coaches, to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, marking the most honorees from any school.
