A fter going 16‑14 overall and 8‑10 in the Big Ten, the Michigan women's basketball team missed the NCAA Tournament and will instead compete in the Women's NIT, host‑ ing Cleveland State March 18 in the opening round. Despite not reaching their goal of making the Big Dance, a few Wolverines earned All‑Big Ten honors. Senior forward Cyesha Goree was named to the All‑Big Ten second team by both the coaches and the media for the second straight season. Enter‑ ing postseason play, she had started all 29 games and recorded 15 double‑ doubles. The 6‑3 senior averaged a double‑double with 13.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, making her one of just six players in the Big Ten to accomplish the feat this season. Goree's 312 rebounds are the second most in school history, behind only her 317 last year. She recorded just the third 20‑point, 20‑rebound game in program history with 26 points and a career‑high 20 rebounds in a double‑overtime contest at Minnesota Feb. 21. She played all 50 minutes in that game, which contributed to her team‑leading average of 32.9 minutes per contest. Goree also led the Wolver‑ ines in field goal percentage (.525) and blocks (22) this season. Freshman guard Katelynn Flaherty provided a spark off the bench for the Wolverines all season, and led the team with an average of 14.4 points per game. She earned Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year honors and was also named to the league's all‑freshman team. Flaherty is the first player in pro‑ gram history to be named Sixth Player of the Year and the first freshman since   WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Wolverines Garner Big Ten Honors Senior forward Cyesha Goree was named to the All-Big Ten second team by both the coaches and the media for the second straight season.
