BASKETBALL RECRUITING BY CHRIS BALAS M ichigan 2016 big man pledge Jon Teske and his Medina (Ohio) High team both started the season slowly while they adjusted to new head coach Chris Hassinger. They're now peaking at the right time. Teske continued his outstanding play of late, scoring 27 points to lead No. 10 seed Medina to its latest upset victory, 45‑43 over No. 1 seed Mas‑ sillon (Ohio) Jackson for the Cop‑ ley Division I District championship March 14. The Bees have won with defense this year, but they know how to turn it up on offense when need be. "We've come really far, especially with a new coach," Teske said. "Coach said from the beginning he always wanted to get back to a dis‑ trict title, and we did it, fortunately. We've been playing great defense." It helps when there's a seven‑footer to protect the rim. Teske blocked five shots, deflected three others and also notched three steals in asserting him‑ self on the defensive end. On offense, he was unstoppable near the basket. He scored most of his points in the paint, but he also stepped out and hit a triple. He was fouled on a three‑pointer with four minutes to go, too, when Jackson   BASKETBALL RECRUITING Junior Pledge Jon Teske Leads Medina To District Title Teske tallied 27 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and three steals to lead 10th-seeded Medina (Ohio) High to a 45-43 victory over top- seeded Massillon (Ohio) Jackson in the Copley Division I District championship game March 14.
