MICHIGAN FOOTBALL It helps that head coach Jim Har- baugh has collected a staff rivaling the best in the country. Little by little it came together, taking pieces from the SEC (defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin coached at Florida), USC (OL coach and running game coordinator Tim Drevno), the NFL (QB coach and passing game coordinator Jedd Fisch, running backs coach Tyrone Wheat- ley, safeties coach Greg Jackson) and more. "Once I find out the staff we were getting, I felt blessed," Chesson said. "These guys coming to Michigan, we talk about being victors, about win- ning championships, and we haven't been doing that, but it sounds like we have a lot of guys on this staff that come from championship teams and have been very successful in their ca- reers, so that's exciting." While few outside the program will likely pick Michigan to rise up so quickly, inside the program, the Maize and Blue believe in themselves. "I think we have the talent to go 15-0," senior linebacker Joe Bolden said. "I think we did last year and had the talent the first two years. Obvi- ously something didn't click along the way. This year we're working for 12 games, 13, 14 and 15. "You can talk about past perfor- mances, but that doesn't really mat- ter — it's what your next move is. It's what you do this year. Not what you did last year or five minutes ago. "I think Ohio State, they did a great job. At times it's hard for me to say that, but they represented the Big Ten, and I want the Big Ten to win the national championship. Ultimately, though, I want Michigan to win a na- tional championship." HARBAUGH SAYS IT'S TOO EARLY TO TALK QUARTERBACKS Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will be seeking a high-level performer behind center this season. He has no interest in making big distinctions between the candidates prior to the halfway point of spring football. Harbaugh spoke about the quar- terbacks five practices into the spring sessions — or, more accurately, fended off repeated inquiries about them. And really, he insisted, there's not that much to know. Yes, the quar- terbacks have separated themselves slightly, enough to see some getting more time in team drills, seven-on- sevens, etc. But not enough to talk about at this point. "We're still working on that," Har- 2015 MICHIGAN FOOTBALL SCHEDULE Date Opponent Sept. 3 at Utah Sept. 12 Oregon State Sept. 19 UNLV Sept. 26 BYU Oct. 3 at Maryland Oct. 10 Northwestern Oct. 17 Michigan State Oct. 31 at Minnesota Nov. 7 Rutgers Nov. 14 at Indiana Nov. 21 at Penn State Nov. 28 Ohio State
