MICHIGAN FOOTBALL "Besides the continued exposures, Miller notes that some players might be predisposed to repeat injury for the same reasons the initial injury occurred," Malani wrote. Durkin clarified the roles his two defensive backs coaches, Greg Jackson and Michael Zordich, will hold, naming Jackson the primary safeties coach while Zordich will work more extensively with the cor- nerbacks. U-M divvied up its secondary a year ago also, with Roy Manning handling the corners and Curt Mallory coaching the safeties. • Durkin, and all the coaches, wanted to give the players a fresh start, but they have consulted defensive line coach Greg Mattison — the defensive co- ordinator under Brady Hoke from 2011-14 — to learn more about the players' personalities. "More than anything, it helps to hear his thoughts on different guys," Durkin said. "We have to start out with some sort of depth chart to go from and he was helpful with that, but more than anything, it's getting to know the kids as people. "You watch them on tape, go to practice, but my whole thing is, 'Let's get to know them as people.' "We weren't here to recruit them. When you're at a place where you've re- cruited the guys, you know the family and everything about them. Greg knows that and that's where he's been helpful." • Head coach Jim Harbaugh has become a bit of a celebrity on Twitter after joining in January. Up to 201,000 followers, he has tweeted at rapper Big Sean, tweeted at and received a response from television star Judge Judy, and tweeted to Madonna. Thanks to his friendship with manager Bob Melvin, Harbaugh enjoyed his spring break in Arizona, coaching first base for the Oakland Athletics March 7 during a spring training game. • Though his position responsibility is quarterbacks, Jedd Fisch is also the passing game coordinator. Thus he's been keeping his eyes on the Wolverines' receivers and tight ends. He likes what he sees from early enrolled freshman wideout Brian Cole. "He should be a senior in high school," Fisch said. "I told him, 'Your ball skills are unbelievable. When you actually know what you're doing, it's going to be unreal' because he makes some plays that are just tremendous. "Right now, he's just figuring it all out."
