The de- fensive tackle originally came to the club during training camp and spent two weeks with the squad before he was given his pink slip during final cuts on Sept. 4. In two pre- season contests, he recorded seven tackles, a sack and one forced fumble. Then, after injuries devastated the defen- sive front, the former first-round selection J ohn McCargo has been signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' roster multiple of the Buffalo Bills (26th overall in 2006) was signed back to the Bucs' active roster on Nov. 8. However, the team claimed Al- bert Haynesworth off waivers the next day and released McCargo to make room for the veteran tackle. The 6-2, 307-pound McCargo returned on Nov. 14 after Tampa Bay suffered an- other season-ending injury along the defen- sive line. He was signed in time to appear in the team's week 11 loss to Green Bay, and he recorded one tackle. The next week, he logged three stops in the team's 23-17 loss to the Titans, and he followed with one takedown in the Bucs' 38-19 loss to the Panthers on Dec. 4. The defensive tackle's three-stop day against Tennessee stands as his most pro- ductive game since he tallied five tackles in the Bills' game against the Titans in week 10 of the 2009 campaign. McCargo spent his first five seasons with Buffalo, where he appeared in 40 games and totaled 47 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble. However, he was active in just one game during the 2010 campaign McCargo, a former first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills, made five tackles in his first three games after joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Nov. 14.
