ND SPORTS the event for the third consecutive year. She received 13 All-America or honorable mention accolades in her Notre Dame career — the most in program history. With 55 total points, the team finished 21st overall in the event. The men's team earned eight points to place 32nd as a team. SOFTBALL (37‑11, 16‑5 ACC) Winning 23 straight games vaulted Notre Dame to a No. 25 ranking nationally as of April 20. During that stretch, the Irish beat No. 24 Virginia Tech three times (2-0 March 28, and 6-1 and 11-1 March 29) and Pittsburgh (re- ceiving votes) three times (13-5 and 14-0 April 3, and 3-2 April 4). The streak is the second longest in program history, trailing only the 33-game win streak set by the 2001 team. After finishing up regular-season play, the Irish will par- ticipate in the ACC Tournament May 5-7 in Blacksburg, Va. MEN'S TENNIS (14‑10, 6‑6 ACC) The Irish finished 8-5 in their last 13 contests, concluding their regular season ranked No. 37 nation- ally. Junior Quentin Monaghan earned ACC Player of the Week honors after a 3-0 stretch in mid-March, including a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win over then-No. 3 Ryan Shane (Virginia), a 6-4, 7-6 (4) close win over then-No. 66 Christopher Eubanks (Georgia Tech), and a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Gerald Guell (Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne). Notre Dame was slated to play Georgia Tech in the first round of the ACC Championships April 23 in Cary, N.C. WOMEN'S TENNIS (14‑9, 8‑6 ACC) Notre Dame entered the ACC Championships April 23-26 in Cary. N.C., ranked No. 33 nationally after winning six of its last 10 contests. Notable victories included a 4-3 win over No. 34 Virginia Tech April 5, and 7-0 sweeps of Marquette March 29 and Wake Forest April 3. The Irish were set to face the winner of the first-round match between Florida State and Pittsburgh in the second round of the league tournament. TRACK & FIELD Junior Margaret Bambose finished sixth in the women's 400 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 14 with a time of 52.65 seconds, earning first-team All-America accolades — the sixth such honor of her career. Junior Molly Seidel also earned a sixth-place finish and All-America honors, setting a school record of 15:48.31 in the 5,000 meters. On the men's side, senior Chris Giesting earned second-team All-America honors after placing ninth in the 400 meters (46.46 seconds). Schools records have continued falling into the outdoor season, with junior Danielle Aragon finish- ing the 1,500 meters in 4:13.43 at the Virginia Challenge, beating the previous mark of 4:13.48 set by Rebecca Tracy in 2012. — Jordan Wells The Irish softball team hasn't lost a game since a 7‑3 defeat at the hands of No. 10 Florida State on March 14.
