FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP
RECRUITING NOTES
• Tight end might not be a position of need for Notre Dame in the class of 2016, but that hasn't stopped
the Irish from courting one of the nation's top prospects at the position. Cary Angeline has taken two
unofficial visits to Notre Dame since the start of February, with the most recent one coming April 18 for
the Irish's Blue-Gold Game.
While Angeline hasn't named any top schools, the Irish appear to be in good shape for the tight end.
Angeline's father, Chris, said shortly after the second trip to South Bend, that his son is high on the Irish.
"Cary obviously likes Notre Dame," Chris Angeline said. "They like him, and Cary likes them."
The 6-7, 234-pound Angeline is ranked as the No. 9 prospect in Pennsylvania and the No. 17 tight end
in the country by Rivals.com. He also holds scholarship offers from Alabama, Nebraska, Arizona State,
USC, Auburn, Ohio State, Penn State and UCLA.
• Notre Dame has hosted more than 100 prospects since the class of 2015 National Signing Day Feb.
4. While almost everyone one of the visitors has been a priority of the staff, one of the highest ranked
uncommitted targets to step foot on campus was Potomac (Md.) Bullis School four-star quarterback
Dwayne Haskins Jr., who is ranked as the No. 68 overall prospect in the country and the No. 3 player in
Maryland.
Exton (Pa.) Downingtown East tight end Cary Angeline, who is ranked No. 17 in the nation at his posi-
tion by Rivals.com, has visited Notre Dame twice.
