FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP The Irish would like to take a quarterback this cycle and Haskins — who visited for Junior Day March 21 — is the top name on the board. While the Irish are high on the No. 4-ranked pro-style quarterback, there is still some work left on the table. Haskins has continued to flirt with LSU, Oklahoma, Florida, Maryland and Rutgers, and is entertaining other offers as well. There have been talks of a return visit to South Bend, but if a date doesn't get set in the near future, the staff's recruiting efforts could quickly shift to Columbia (Tenn.) Spring Hill four-star quarterback Tylin Oden, who also visited for Junior Day. The Irish are set to evaluate the nation's No. 204 overall prospect sometime this spring, and if the coaches like what they see, an offer could follow suite for the No. 7 ranked dual-threat quarterback and No. 6 prospect in Tennessee. • The Irish are projected to sign two linebackers in the class of 2016, and while the position isn't much of a priority after taking three linebackers last cycle, two names recently came off the board with Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star Curtis Robinson committing to Stanford and Rilato (Calif.) Wilmer Amina Carter four-star Lokeni Toailoa pledging to UCLA. That has created a situation where Burtonsville (Md.) Paint Branch four-star linebacker Cameron Brown has turned into a name to know at the position. Brown, who is ranked as the No. 12 prospect in Maryland and the No. 23 outside linebacker nationally, visited Notre Dame for Junior Day March 21 with his mother and left with a positive outlook on the Irish. "I'm in good standing with Notre Dame, he said. "I loved the campus and the coaches, and practice was very physical, which I loved." Brown is also heavily considering Penn State, Virginia Tech, Duke and North Carolina, but Notre Dame has already positioned itself for a potential official visit down the line. — Andrew Ivins Moving or flying north for the summer?
