FOOTBALL RECRUITING Upshur is one of Michigan's top tight end targets, and he's a good one. He visited Ann Arbor last summer for an unofficial visit at the conclusion of his participation in the Sound Mind, Sound Body camp in Detroit, and the Wolver‑ ines remain high on his list. He's a true two‑way tight end with the ability to block and catch, and Michigan can use a player like that in its pro‑style offense. OL JAKE MORETTI (2017) 6-5, 280 • Arvada (Colo.) Pomona Four-star recruit, 5.9 Rivals rating (mid- dle-tier four-star) Moretti has quickly emerged as one of the top offensive linemen in the coun‑ try for 2017, with a dozen offers. He has built a rapport with U‑M offensive coor‑ dinator and line coach Tim Drevno, and hopes to make a visit in the summer. Even if he can't, Moretti will make it to town before his commitment, and the Wolverines have a strong shot with him. Moretti is a big body that is still refin‑ ing his technique at the position, but he has the natural athleticism to excel. DT RASHAN GARY 6-5, 290 • Paramus (N.J.) Catholic Five-star prospect, No. 1 recruit in New Jersey, and No. 1 defensive tackle and No. 4 overall player nationally Gary was one of the best defensive linemen in Baltimore at last year 's event, and he's looking to repeat that success in 2015. He currently plays at Paramus (N.J.) Catholic, where he trans‑ ferred as a junior in large part to play for coach Chris Partridge, who has moved on to take a recruiting position on the staff in Ann Arbor. That connection has the Wolverines feeling like there's an extremely strong shot to land him. Gary is a big inside force, but has un‑ believable quickness that allows him to rush the passer from the interior line. LB BEN DAVIS 6-3, 234 • Gordo (Ala.) High School Five-star recruit, No. 2 player in Ala- bama, and No. 1 inside linebacker and No. 14 overall prospect nationally Davis admits he's more likely to play close to home in college, but doesn't want to simply shrug off an offer from a program like Michigan. He's hoping to take an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor Rivals.com rates Paramus (N.J.) Catholic product Rashan Gary as a five-star recruit, the No. 1 player in the Garden State, and the No. 1 defensive tackle and No. 4 overall pros- pect in the land. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
