FOOTBALL RECRUITING during his recruiting process — or po‑ tentially save an official in the fall to make his way to a game. Big, athletic linebackers are a prior‑ ity for Michigan in this class, and Davis would be a huge haul. He is a true run stopper. LB DEVIN BUSH 5-11, 221 • Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan Four-star prospect, No. 22 player in Florida, and No. 4 inside linebacker and No. 136 overall recruit nationally Bush has already seen Michigan once, taking an unofficial visit during spring practice, and he plans to return to cam‑ pus for the first day of the Wolverines' on‑campus summer camp. That indi‑ cates strong Michigan interest, and al‑ though he holds an offer from Florida State (where his father and high school coach, Devin Sr., played his college ball), Michigan may be the favorite over the Seminoles and others. Bush may not have conventional line‑ backer size, but his instincts and athleti‑ cism allow him to excel. Past Participants Michigan has been well represented in previous years at the Five‑Star Chal‑ lenge. The Wolverines boasted a big contingent at the inaugural event, and have remained involved since. 2012 — Atlanta Five eventual Michigan signees participated in the first event: Detroit Cass Tech teammates David Dawson (OL) and Jourdan Lewis (CB), Trotwood (Ohio) Madison linebacker Mike McCray II, Parker (Colo.) Ponderosa offensive lineman Chris Fox, and — the only player who committed to Michigan after the event — Richmond (Va.) Hermitage tailback Derrick Green. All impressed, particularly Green and Lewis. Fox and McCray battled injuries during the event, but man‑ aged to participate in both days of competition. 2013 — Chicago Michigan's lone representative at the Chicago Bears' Soldier Field was St. Clairsville (Ohio) High linebacker Michael Ferns. Unfortunately, he sustained a shoulder injury on the first day and was unable to participate in many of the events. He enrolled early, but left U‑M at the end of his freshman year. 2014 — Baltimore For the second year in a row, Michigan had just one eventual signee in atten‑ dance, and Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne safety Tyree Kinnel was the man for the Maize and Blue (tight end Chris Clark was committed to U‑M at the time, but eventually signed with UCLA). Kinnel acquitted himself well, ending the process as a Rivals250 prospect.
