MICHIGAN FOOTBALL building." Soon enough, Michigan brought Harbaugh into the building. His inten- sity appears off the charts, while pass- ing game coordinator/quarterbacks and wide receivers coach Jedd Fisch works in the area of lower-decibel teaching. "He's a little bit more laid back," Morris said of Fisch. "He's a really good guy. He's fun. But he really knows what he's doing. He's been there. He's been in the NFL, worked with guys who are successful in the NFL. He really knows what it takes to make it to the next level and what it takes to win. "He's a great coach. He's a great explainer of the game and teacher of the game. I spend a lot of time with him in film sessions, just trying to un- derstand the offense even better. He's really great at explaining that. I love working with him." Morris vows not to stop working, regardless of the competition. He knows as well as anyone that teams stand only a snap away from changing quarterbacks. So he's doubled down on effort, making sure he doesn't take himself out of the lineup. Whoever ends up as Michigan's starting quarterback carries some clear mandates, Morris noted. "It's definitely the guy who has the best grasp on the offense, who knows it in and out," he said. "It's the guy who is tough, who is going to put his head down against a linebacker to get the extra yard on third down. It's who- ever can get the team to rally around him. "It's a winner. That's the biggest thing about college football — winning games. That's what we have to do this year. We have to win." THREE WOLVERINES TO REPRESENT U-M IN CHICAGO A trio of Michigan veterans will make the trip to Chicago for the Big Ten Football Luncheon. Senior line- backers Joe Bolden and James Ross, along with redshirt junior wide re- ceiver Jehu Chesson, join head coach Jim Harbaugh at the annual event. Bolden started 12 games a year ago, recording 102 tackles, with a pair of sacks among four tackles for loss. The Junior Shane Morris said he will compete for the starting quarterback job by proving he can lead the team and by "out-working everyone." PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN
