MICHIGAN FOOTBALL veteran made the Lott IMPACT Tro- phy watch list in April, as a potential Defensive Player of the Year exempli- fying integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity. Ross posted 32 tackles a year ago, and has 153 in his career. He has also recorded a pair of sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered one over the course of his career. Chesson has caught 29 passes for 375 yards and a touchdown during his career. He has been saluted by both players and coaches this spring as someone stepping to the fore in areas of leadership. The annual luncheon and meetings with the media take place July 30-31 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago. MICHIGAN STATE AND OHIO STATE GAMES ARE SOLD OUT Those seeking to attend the Ohio State or Michigan State football games at The Big House in Jim Harbaugh's first season have some work to do. A U-M spokesman has announced those two rivalry games are sold out. Michigan has had its hands full with both foes in recent seasons. The Spar- tans have won six of the last seven in the series against the Wolverines, after Michigan had won six in a row and 10 of the previous 12. The Wolverines last knocked off MSU at home in 2012, 12-10. Ohio State has won 10 of the last 11, with Michigan's only win during that agonizing stretch for U-M fans also occurring at Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines beat the Buckeyes, 40-34, in Brady Hoke's first season at the helm, 2011. U-M fans are anticipating a much different result under Harbaugh and obviously aren't willing to miss the early engagements in either of those showdowns. Fans missing out on ticket sales for them may be paying a heavy price to obtain entrance. Game times for the MSU and OSU contests have yet to be announced. Michigan opens the season at Utah on Sept. 3, a Thursday night contest to be televised at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Fox Sports 1. The Wolverines then draw a pair of noon starts on Sept. 12 and Sept. 19 at Michigan, facing Oregon State and UNLV, respectively. They finish the non-conference season with a home game against Brigham Young, the time to be announced. Other known game times are as fol- lows: at Maryland on Oct. 3, 8 p.m.; at home against Northwestern on Oct. 10, in the 3:30 p.m. homecoming contest; and at Minnesota on Oct. 31, 8 p.m. U-M SEEKING CONSISTENCY OUT OF WIDE RECEIVERS Michigan passing game coordina- tor/quarterbacks and wide receivers coach Jedd Fisch knows all eyes will be on his pass catching crew this fall. He isn't among those who believe the Wolverines lack talent at the spot. That said, he knows the reports re- garding the wideouts haven't been glowing. Head coach Jim Harbaugh himself singled out this group as one that needs to step it up in significant ways following Michigan's spring
