Lauren Coughlin ◆ Golf The 2015 All-ACC selection picked up where she left off last season, setting the program's 54-hole scoring record in the second event of the campaign. At the Mason Rudolph Champi- onship hosted by Vanderbilt Sept. 18-20, the redshirt fourth-year fired an 11-under-par 205 to place second. It marked the best finish in her career and was just one shot off of medalist honors. The outstanding tournament from the Chesapeake, Va., native helped the Cavaliers place fourth in the 17-team field. Lucy Hyams ◆ Field Hockey The Whitstable, England, native has formed an impressive one-two scoring punch with teammate Tara Vittese for the No. 4 Cavaliers. Hyams was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 22 after having a hand in three of the team's goals in a 4-2 win over then-No. 7 Duke four days earlier. Through nine games, the third-year midfielder was tied for the team lead with five assists and two game-winning goals, and ranked second only to Vittese with five markers and 15 points. She led the ACC with an average of 4.38 shots per game, was tied for second in assists, ranked fifth in points and was also tied for fifth in goals. Iona Lake ◆ Cross Country The 22-year-old graduate student transfer from the University of Birmingham in England led the No. 16 women's cross country squad to a team win at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational Sept. 26, by winning the 5,000-meter race in 16:49.5. She won the race by 10 seconds over teammate Cleo Boyd and became the second straight Cavalier to capture the women's crown at the event. Lake is in her last year of eligibility and is working on a second master's degree after debut- ing with UVa last year, winning the ACC title in the steeplechase and earning All-ACC laurels in cross country. She hopes to represent her country at the 2016 Olympics in the steeplechase. Canaan Severin ◆ Football The fourth-year wide receiver and team captain came up huge in Virginia's near-miss against then-No. 9 Notre Dame, which boasts an excellent secondary. Severin set a career high with 11 receptions, which is tied for the sixth most in school history; his 153 receiving yards marked the most since Tim Smith's 151 in 2013; and he also drew a pass interference call. After four contests, he boasted a streak of 16 straight games with a reception and led the ACC with 23 catches. His 298 receiving yards paced the Cavaliers and ranked second in the league.
