2016 BASKETBALL RECRUITING ISSUE shooter during his season, and Notre Dame and Louisville have done so recently. Stanford, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Iowa, Florida and Michi- gan are others also in the mix. Beilein made an impression on the family when he visited the school April 19, Rob Carmody II — Car- mody's father — wrote in a blog for The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Three days a week in the spring, I work out Robby and some guys from the Mars team before school starts. So it's 6:30 in the morning and Michi- gan coach John Beilein walks in," he wrote. "… Coach Beilein comes back and we talk. Great guy. "Robby's been up to Michigan and visited. They really like him, but haven't offered yet. The scholarship might come, but the style they play and the system they run, it kind of fits Robby." Carmody is wide open and is a prime candidate to receive an offer in June, when the Wolverines first offer sophomores. AUSTIN BOUCHER, SG 6-2 • 160 FORT WAYNE (IND.) SOUTH Not rated Boucher camped at Michigan last summer and impressed everyone who saw him with both his handle and his shot. He became somewhat of a YouTube sensation with his ball- handling skills, etc., in seventh and eighth grade, and became a serious target for many programs when he put up 54 points in a playoff game in March. Butler, Illinois, Indiana, Notre Dame and Purdue are among the earlier contenders with U-M. "He's got an offensive sense about him," South coach Mike Novell told Peegs.com. "That's part of his basket- ball spirit. He wants the basketball, and he wants to put himself into po- sition to hit big shots. He takes a lot of the load on his shoulders, but is a hard-working kid. "He's more of a lead guard than an actual point guard or a scoring guard. He likes to have the ball in his hands. He's intelligent — I think he's third or fourth in his class. He sees the floor well, knows what to do with it and has good instincts … a tremen- dous talent who is just getting better and better all the time." Boucher averaged 24.4 points, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game as a sophomore. Rob Carmody has visited Michigan, and head coach John Beilein returned the favor by making the trek to Moon Township, Pa. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
