MICHIGAN FOOTBALL made arguably the top coordinator hire of the offseason by bringing Don Brown to Ann Arbor from Boston College. "Under Brown's watch last season, the Eagles allowed only 15.3 points a game and led the nation by holding opponents to 4.1 yards per play. The veteran as- sistant has a long track record of success from other stops at UConn, Maryland and UMass, and should engineer one of the nation's best defenses this fall." • Michigan will play road night games this year at Rutgers Oct. 8 and at Iowa Nov. 12, the ESPN family of networks announced. The Wolverines are not sched- uled to play a night game at The Big House this season, according to director of athletics Warde Manuel. The matchup with the Scarlet Knights will either take place at 7 or 8 p.m., and will be viewed on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. The start time in Iowa City will be 8 p.m. and again could be seen on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. In its first-ever meeting with Rutgers, Michigan fell in a prime-time matchup in 2014, losing 26-24 on the road. The Wolverines rebounded to beat the Scarlet Knights 49-16 at home in 2015 during an afternoon affair. U-M and Iowa have not met since the 2013 season, with the Hawkeyes walk- ing away with a 24-21 home victory over the Maize and Blue. The two have met once before in prime time, in 2009, with Michigan falling 30-28 at Kinnick Stadium. • Michigan redshirt junior tail- back Ty Isaac was named to BTN. com's All-Spring Offense Team. "He enjoyed a nice spring in the first 14 practices, and then in the spring game excelled with runs of 14, 29 and 30 yards and showed what he can do," Tom Di- enhart wrote. "Isaac has slimmed down, is working hard and ready to fulfill the hype he brought with him as a transfer from USC." Meanwhile, defensively, senior cornerback Channing Stribling earned inclusion: "The corner got rave reviews from Jim Harbaugh as arguably the best defensive player of the spring. Considering he was a part-time starter last year, that was a big statement for Harbaugh to make." Redshirt junior running back Ty Isaac was one of two Wolverines named to the Big Ten Network's All-Spring team after leading all U-M players with 78 rushing yards in the spring game.
