JULY 2016 ■ 137 ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING 12. JAVON LEAKE, RB Greensboro Page High Leake is regarded as the top running back in the state. He ran 241 times for 1,858 yards and 25 touchdowns last sea‑ son. He also caught 19 passes for 284 yards and three scores while helping Page to a state title game appearance against Mallard Creek. He is a physically gifted back, possessing a nice combination of size (6‑1, 195 pounds) and speed, having run the 40‑yard dash in around 4.5 seconds at NC State's summer camp in 2015. On the recruiting trail, Leake has a top eight of Louisville, Maryland, NC State, Ne‑ braska, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ten‑ nessee and Virginia Tech. Rivals.com rates Leake as a three‑star player and the No. 26 running back nationally. 13. HENDON HOOKER, QB Greensboro Dudley High Hooker is a 6‑4, 200‑pound athletic dual‑ threat quarterback. He com‑ pleted 64.1 percent of his passes for 2,234 yards with 17 touchdowns and six picks while rushing for 1,217 yards and 15 scores as a junior. However, Hooker is not asked to make a lot of complicated throws in Dudley's offense, and his overall passing abilities need to be polished if he is going to reach his full potential. Hooker has verbally committed to Virginia Tech. He is considered a three‑star prospect and the No. 24 dual‑threat quarterback in the country by Rivals. 14. EMEKA EMEZIE, WR Waxhaw Marvin Ridge High Receivers that are 6‑3½, 200 pounds and catch 69 passes for 1,101 yards and 11 touchdowns during their junior season draw the attention of college coaches. Emezie is also a solid ath‑ lete, although he does not appear to have elite speed. He posted a 32.0‑ inch vertical leap and a 4.41‑second shuttle time at the Nike Opening in Charlotte. Rivals.com rates Emezie as a three‑star talent and the No. 81 wide receiver in the country. He has given a verbal commitment to NC State. 15. J.T. CAUTHEN, WR Waxhaw Cuthbertson High Cauthen is similar to Emezie. He's a good‑sized receiver at 6‑2, 205 pounds, and he shows impressively strong hands on film SEPI is proud to support NC State and Wolfpack Athletics Improving the communities we impact and the infrastructure they depend on.
