PHOTO BY MATT RILEY/COURTESY UVA Edward Opoku earned two ACC soccer honors: All-Freshman Team and third-team all-conference after developing into Virginia's third-leading scorer. Cross country runner Emily Mulhern earned a trio of honors in 2015: USTFCCA All-Southeast Region, All-ACC Academic Team and USTFCCA All-Academic team. She snared All-Southeast honors by placing 11th at the NCAA Southeast Regional. At times, Carrerra Lucas was an impenetrable wall for the field hockey team. In a 4-3 overtime conquest of Delaware in an NCAA first-round game, Lucas didn't allow a goal for a span of 54:34 and matched her season-high with eight saves. Overall, she finished eighth in the ACC with 52 saves. Megan Moroney was so proficient that she earned All-America honors after swimming a leg on the 800 freestyle relay team, which placed fifth at the NCAA Championships, and also a leg on the 200 freestyle relay team that finished sixth. Kylie Towbin became the first UVA female fresh- man diver to qualify for the national meet by plac- ing third on platform at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships. On the tennis courts, Meghan Kelley was voted the Virginia Sports Information Directors' Rookie of the Year after recording a 29-9 overall record (12-1 in ACC play). Rookie midfielder Maggie Jackson led the lacrosse team with a .593 shot percentage and in draw con- trols with 39. She also finished sixth on the team in scoring with 22 points (16 goals and six assists) and started 16 of 18 games. Classmate Kaitlin Luzik, a defender, was fourth on the team with 23 ground balls and 21 draw controls. She recorded a career- high five draw controls against Johns Hopkins in an NCAA first-round game. Last but not least rower Heidi Long was tabbed as the ACC Freshman of the Year. She was a member of the Cavaliers' varsity eight unit that won the ACC title, was tabbed as the ACC Crew of the Year and placed fifth at the NCAA Championships.
