82 ■ THE WOLFPACKER used last season, while sitting out, to get stronger in the weight room and improve his conditioning. He's also a natural leader. "He has everything you want — leader- ship on and off the court, one of our top students, exceptionally organized, keeps all the other guys in the right direction," Choboy noted. "He's going to have to play some of the top spots as well." The Saveljic twins will look to build off their rookie campaigns, when Ivan won 13 singles matches and Igor added 12 victo- ries. Choboy noted both arrived in January last year and were immediately thrown into the lineup. "I do think coming in January to a new country, new setting, new school, a whole new setup of everything, I think it took them a while," Choboy said. "By the end Newcomer To Watch Freshman Alexis Galarneau Galarneaus signed with NC State early in the summer and could prove to be a significant find for the Wolfpack. Head coach Jon Choboy described him as one of the best freshmen in college tennis. "There is nice pedigree there with experience as a Canadian national team member since he was 11," Choboy noted. "He's a tremendous competitor. He's a really nice addition to the team, more than just his playing ability. He's not intimidated by anybody." GREGORY D. MILLER, CPA SANDRA A. MILLER, CPA REBECCA A. Norenius spent most of the year at No. 1 singles, and Weigel rotated with Nick Horton at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Weigel's 22 wins in the spring were one off tying the school record for most in a season. 161 Career wins accumulated by Norenius and Weigel at NC State. Weigel's 86 wins tied legend John Sadri for fifth most in school history, and Norenius' 75 victories were tied for seventh highest. Noting The Pack • A familiar face has rejoined the program as an assistant coach. Maciek Sykut was a volunteer as‑ sistant for head coach Jon Choboy from 2012‑14, and he was hired in July to be an assistant. Sykut was one of the most prolific tennis play‑ ers in Florida State history, finishing among the top five in both career singles and doubles wins. He went on to win a couple of doubles champi‑ onships on the ATP Challenger tour. Sykut re‑ placed Mat Cloer, who decided to move back into private coaching and teaching. • NC State announced the signing in the fall of Morgan Lohan, a five‑time Irish national champion and four‑time member of the Irish national team. He is No. 13 in the Universal Tennis Rank and has 21 career wins on the ITF Juniors Circuit. His sister, Sinead Lohan, was an All‑ACC selec ‑ tion for Miami's women's tennis team last year.
