90 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING Athlete Nakia Robinson, Miami Jackson High Robinson (5-11, 180 pounds), who is rated as a three-star prospect, played both running back and corner this season for Jackson, which endured a 3-7 season under first-year head coach Lakatriona Brunson, the first-ever female head coach in Florida high school football. Linebacker Raven Saunders, Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Dwyer High Dwyer went 10-2, reeling off 10 straight wins between a season-opening loss and a second-round setback to Fort Lauder- dale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas High in the Class 7A playoffs. St. Thomas Aquinas would reach the state title game. During the 10-game winning streak, Saunders (6-1, 215 pounds) led a defense that posted five shutouts and gave up a combined total of 32 points, or 3.2 points per game. Saunders is listed as a three-star prospect. Linebacker Nick Smith, Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips High Smith, who is considered a three-star recruit, has helped Dr. Phillips make a sur- prising run to the Class 8A state playoffs title game against Miami Southridge High Dec. 17. Smith had a pair of tackles for loss in the state semifinals win over Seminole (Fla.) High. Dr. Phillips was 12-2 entering the cham- pionship game. Smith, a hard-hitting 6-3, 215-pounder, picked up an offer from Michigan State during the season and may take a visit there.
