Dudley High Dudley is considered one of the premier teams in the state, and the 6-4, 260-pound Speas, a one-time Virginia commitment, has helped the Panthers reach the semifinals of the 4-A state playoffs. Dudley is 13-1. Wide receiver Antoine Thompson, Plant City (Fla.) High The 6-1, 170-pound Thompson joins Gibson as the four-star pickups in the class. Thompson is rated the No. 38 wide receiver in the country, but he did not play this year after tearing his ACL. He is set to enroll early at NC State, although schools like Pittsburgh and South Florida have contin- ued to recruit him. Junior kicker Chris Dunn, Lexington (N.C.) North Davidson High North Davidson went 8-5 after falling in the second round of the 4-AA state play- offs. The 5-9, 165-pound Dunn made 9 of 12 field goals with a long of 47 and 64 of 66 extra points. Junior athlete De'Von Graves, Appomattox (Va.) County High The 6-1, 180-pound Graves has been a big-play machine on both sides of the ball to help Appomattox reach the state finals of the Group 2A playoffs with a perfect 14-0 record. They have won their games by an average score of 45.6-8.9 points. Graves had a 76-yard touchdown recep- tion in a quarterfinals win. Junior athlete Nadir Thompson, Bailey (N.C.) Southern Nash High Southern Nash's dream season ended in the 3-A state playoffs with a second-round loss to Rocky Mount (N.C.) High. Prior to that, Southern Nash had won its first 12 games. Thompson, who has been offered by Virginia Tech, UNC and Duke since his Wolfpack commitment, made his big- gest impact as a punt returner, averaging 14.8 yards on 23 returns during the regular season. Offensively, Thompson (5-11, 175 pounds) caught six passes for 197 yards and three scores and ran 30 times for 149 yards.
