irish in the pros Jackson spent four seasons with the Denver Broncos (2000-04) in the National Football League before moving on to NFL Europe and a one-year stint with the Barcelona Dragons. He then went on to the CFL as a member of the British Columbia Lions, where he played a role in a pair of Grey Cup championships (2006 and 2011). He is savoring the most recent victory by letting [his body] go for a little while and getting his family settled back in their home in Houston. Thats our home base, he said. Now Im just back to doing everyday chores. Its back to mowing the yard and issues with the sink. Jackson met his wife, Jaynine, in Vancouver, and the two have a pair of daughters, 2-yearold Jayla and 4-year-old Jiselle. Its a handful, but I have a strong wife and she takes care of the home front during the season, he said. Thats part of the juggling act of being married to a professional athlete. Known around the CFL as a team guy, Jackson has accepted his role as a reserve with a positive attitude. The sooner you can accept it for what it is, it helps everybody to accomplish the same goal, he said. Of course you want to be that guy, you want to be that starter. Im a football player, and as I get older, Im like a player-coach. The more you can pass that knowledge on to other guys, it helps the game for the future. NFL Notes Through Dec. 10 Denver reserve safety David Bruton has only four tackles this season, but his interception in a 179 win at Kansas City Nov. 25 helped the Broncos clinch the AFC West Division title. To make room for kicker Josh Brown, the Cincinnati Bengals waived veteran center Jeff Faine Dec. 6. The 31-year-old started 124 of 125 games played over 10 seasons. Fellow Fighting Irish alumnus Trevor Robinson, who signed with Cincinnati in April as an undrafted rookie free agent, has played in 10 games (five starts) this year for the Bengals. Miami tight end Anthony Fa sano hauled in a six-yard touch down pass in the Dolphins 2713 loss at San Francisco Dec.9. It was Fasanos first TD reception since Oct. 28. He had 30 catches for 233 yards and four scores through 13 games this year. Arizona rookie wideout Mi chael Floyd registered at least two catches in each of the Cardinals six games from Oct. 29 to Dec. 2, upping his season total to 28 snags for 312 yards and a touch down through 13 contests. Houston offensive tackle Ryan Harris barged his way into the starting lineup for the first time this season in a 24-10 victory over Tennessee Dec. 2. Offensive guard Eric Olsen, a reserve for most of the season, made his first two career NFL starts for the New Orleans Saints in losses to Atlanta (2313 Nov. 29) and the New York Giants (5227 Dec.9). Quarterback Brady Quinn started his third straight game and fifth of the year for the Kan sas City Chiefs in a 30-7 loss to Cleveland Dec. 9. Quinns only win as a starter and the teams second victory of the season came a day after the organization was rocked by the news of line backer Javon Belcher murdering his girlfriend before driving to the teams practice facility and fatally shooting himself in front of mem
