where have you gone? Robin Weber, 1972-76 Tight End Weber is best remembered for making the 35-yard reception on a crucial third-and-long play deep in Irish territory that helped seal Notre Dames 24-23 victory over No. 1 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, clinching the 1973 national championship. photo courtesy notre dame media relations A Notre Dame-Alabama game instantly conjures up his name By Lou Somogyi R obin Weber might be classified to some as the Debby Boone of Notre Dame football. In 1977, Boone became known as a one-hit wonder with her recording of You Light Up My Life, the No.1 single of the entire 1970s. Many might forget that Boone went on later to win two more Grammy awards for her work in country and Christian music, mainly because her original foray was so spectacular. Likewise, Weber had a pretty darn good career at Notre Dame, but his name is instantly associated with only one play: The Pass. My phones been lighting up quite a bit lately, Weber said from his home in Dallas in December. Ive been getting some interview requests. Not that the 58-year-old Weber is complaining. All one has to say is Notre Dame versus Alabama and an immediate association is second-team tight
