Under the Dome Top of The Class Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Elizabeth Tucker ��� Jr., Women���s Soccer The junior midfielder continued Notre Dame���s successful track record on the Academic All-America team. Tucker (4.0 GPA in accounting) became the 15th Irish nomination to the 11-woman team in the last 18 years. She finished third on the team this season in minutes played, starting 22 of Notre Dame���s 24 games. She scored five goals and added three assists and was named to the All-Big East Tournament Team. Mario Lucia ��� Fr., Hockey The Irish freshman will spend the first part of his semester break at the U.S. Junior National Team camp in New York. The national team selected Lucia to try out for a spot on Team USA for the IIHF World Junior Championships in January. He scored four goals and an assist in his first six games for the Irish after returning from a serious leg injury. He was the CCHA Rookie of the Week during the first week of December. Kevin Ridgway ��� Alum (���11), Men���s Lacrosse Ridgway is one of two former Notre Dame lacrosse players who will be wearing the red, white and blue in January. Ridway, a two-time All-American defenseman while playing for the Irish, made the roster for the U.S. National Team along with 2010 graduate Scott Rodgers. They will play their alma mater Jan.��26, when Notre Dame faces the U.S. team as part of the Champions Challenge in Florida. Toni Alugbue ��� So., Volleyball The American Volleyball Coaches��� Association picked Alugbue for its All-Northeast Region team. Alugbue started all 30 of Notre Dame���s matches this season and led the team in kills and kills per set as a sophomore. She finished fifth in the Big East in kills and made the all-conference first team. She and classmate Jeni Houser are both All-Northeast selections, which makes them eligible for All-America honors decided in late December.
