came up short, stopped just inches shy
of the goal line on fourth down. The
play was reviewed, but upheld and the
Notre Dame students poured on to a
soaking wet field to celebrate a 6-0 start
to the season.
���The defense had to win it all, so we
put it on our backs and got it done,���
junior nose guard Louis Nix said. ���We
knew that was going to happen. Stanford, they���re a great team and they go
at everybody. It���s a hard-fought game
in the trenches.���
Notre Dame proved for the first of
several times this year that it was up
for the fight.
