BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM NOV. 22, 2025 41 OPPONENT ON DECK: STANFORD Date: Nov. 29, 2025 Site (Capacity): Stanford Stadium (50,424) Kickoff: TBA All-time series: Notre Dame leads 24-14 Last meeting: Notre Dame 49, Stanford 7 (Oct. 12, 2024, at South Bend) 2025 Record To Date: 3-7 (2-5 ACC) Stanford interim head coach: Frank Reich (3-7, 1st season) Season summary: Unsurprisingly, Frank Reich's season as Stanford's interim head coach hasn't been an overwhelming success, but a win over one of its two remaining rivals on the schedule — California and Notre Dame — would give the Cardinal more than three wins in a season for the first time since 2020. All three of Stanford's victo- ries this season have come at home, and the final two games will be played on "The Farm" as well. Stanford's roster deficiencies have been on dis- play all season long. The offense is one of the worst rushing teams in college football with an average of 76.9 yards per game. The defense is one of the worst at defending the pass, allowing an average of 284.5 yards per game. Redshirt senior quarterback Ben Gulbranson started the first nine games of the season, but Reich benched him for redshirt freshman Elijah Brown in Stanford's last game, at North Carolina. Brown completed passes at a higher rate (69.2 percent) in his starting debut than Gulbranson did in any of his starts this season. Though Brown lost a 20-15 game at North Carolina, perhaps he can give Stanford something to look forward to while sorting out the future of the program. Stanford doesn't have much of an identity right now. The Cardinal typically produced consistent offensive lines, but only Auburn (39) allowed more sacks than Stanford (38) through Week 11. Fixing the offensive line should become a priority for general manager Andrew Luck in the offseason. OFFENSE Pos. No. Name Ht. Wt. Yr.
