The game of football has changed dramatically, and where it
might be most manifested is in quarterback statistics because of
today's much more emphasized and advanced passing attacks.
Entering his senior year, Tommy Rees' 34 touchdowns passes are
already more than those of legendary former Irish national title
quarterbacks such as Terry Hanratty (27), Tom Clements (25), Joe
Montana (27) and Tony Rice (13), never mind quarterbacks from
the 1940s.
Rees is also currently Notre Dame's all-time completion percentage leader, Here is the top five at Notre Dame based on those who
have attempted at least 150 passes in their careers. Almost all are
of recent vintage:
