"He worked his tail off all offseason. He got in the training room, and he got back to 100 percent quicker than a lot of people thought he would. And he could cut, go lateral, everything. He was all over the place." Finding His Groove During the first few fall camp ses- sions, Countess had to shake some of the rust off. He hadn't worn pads — much less played full-speed football — in almost a year. Even after the first game of the season, Countess admitted that he felt a little like a freshman, adjusting to the speed of the game. But eventually it all came back to him, and the coaches felt confident enough in his ability to give him even more responsibility.
