Ten Wolverines To Watch This Fall 1. Ainsley McCallister, field hockey: The redshirt junior midfielder had a promising season in 2011, starting all 22 games and helping out with three assists. McCallister, an Ann Arbor native, was voted team captain before the 2012 season, but she sustained an injury in the second game, which sidelined her for the rest of the year. She healed quickly enough to play for Team USA in last summer's Junior World Cup, and she has brought that experience to Michigan. Through eight games, she was second on the team in assists (five) and third in total points (seven). 2. Abby Cole, volleyball: Despite the Wolverines' veteran lineup — which includes offensive stars Lexi Erwin and Molly Toon — Cole, a middle blocker, has made an immediate impact as a true freshman. To Redshirt junior midfielder Ainsley McCallister, open the season, Cole played in 36 who played for Team USA in the Junior World of 39 sets, racking up 87 kills (fourth Cup, had five assists in U-M's first eight on the team) and 34 blocks. James Murphy, men's soccer: Murphy, a sophomore forward, made his presence felt last season, starting 21 games and scoring four goals on the season. He was best when it counted most — three of his four goals were gamewinners last year. The Oxford, England, native has gotten off to a fast start in 2013. He stood second on the team with two goals on 11 shots on net and an assist in five games. 4. Madisson Lewis, women's soccer: The Wolverines are determined to diversify their offensive attack this season, and Lewis, a freshman who won the last two Gatorade Michigan High School Player Of The Year awards, has immediately added to U-M's arsenal. In each of the last three seasons, All-Big Ten forward Nkem Ezurike has been the lone Wolverine with more than five goals. Lewis already had three in eight games, to go along with four assists.
