Major League Baseball J.J. Putz Is Working His Way Back From Another Injury Former Michigan and current Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher J.J. Putz, once the team's closer, continues to work his way back from yet another injury. Putz had been sidelined since Aug. 24 with a dislocated right little finger before returning Sept. 17. He'd thrown well in August, posting a 1.08 ERA during the month before suffering his second injury of the year. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson told MLB.com he was looking forward to seeing how Putz responded in evaluating him for the future.
