Big Ten.

n Sept. 18, senior defenseman and captain Mac Bennett and head coach Red
Berenson boarded a plane
with an end destination of Minneapolis-St. Paul for the inaugural Big
Ten Hockey media day. The experience was an entirely new one for Berenson and the program, which had
been a member of the CCHA from
1982‑2013.
Something else is new — consistently voted the preseason favorite in
the CCHA over the last two decades,
the Wolverines were picked to finish
third in the six-team Big Ten behind
Wisconsin and Minnesota.
While many of the key figures
return — Berenson, his assistants
Billy Powers and Brian Wiseman,
and scores of veteran personnel —
2013‑14 will mark a new era of Michigan hockey.
