Summary: A once dominant hockey program, earning 23 NCAA bids from 1982-2008, Michigan State has been to the postseason just once in the last five years, and Spartan fans are already questioning whether Anastos is the right man to lead the program back. 6. Penn State 2012-13 Record: 13-14-0. Head Coach: Guy Gadowsky. Top Player: Junior forward Tommy Olczyk. Top Incoming Freshman: Goalie Eamon McAdam. Summary: In just its second season as a Division I program, Penn State is eager to join the Big Ten and enjoy first-time meetings with its new rivals, while also hopeful that it isn't blown out of the building night after night. Preseason All-Big Ten Teams First Team Goalie — Adam Wilcox, Minnesota: A 38-game starter last season, Wilcox went 25-8-5, setting a Minnesota single-season record with a 1.88 goals-against average while boasting a .921 save percentage en route to third-team All-WCHA honors. Defense — Jack McCabe, Wisconsin: Regarded by many to be among the top three or four defensemen in college hockey, McCabe is a 6-1, 210-pounder with a balanced game. He has six goals and 27 assists in his career and will be an alternate captain this year. Defense — Mac Bennett, Michigan: Wearing the 'C' for the Wolverines, the lefthanded Bennett is a true two-way defender, notching 12 goals and 39 assists in his career while placing an emphasis on his presence inside Michigan's own zone. Forward — Kyle Rau, Minnesota: Though undersized at 5-8, 173, Rau has a bright future, going in the third round of the 2011 NHL Draft. In his first two seasons, he's contributed 33 goals and 50 assists. Forward — Michael Mersch, Wisconsin: Only the fourth player in school history to account for at least 20.0 percent of the team's goals, the 6-1, 225-pound beast led the WCHA with 23 markers and now has 45 goals in his career entering his senior campaign. Forward — Alex Guptill, Michigan: The 2012 CCHA Rookie of the Year, Guptill has led the Maize and Blue in scoring in each of his first two seasons, recording 16 goals in 2012 and 16 again in 2013, with a career-high 36 points last season.
