STATISTICS • Led his team with 92 tackles as a senior. Had one sack, nine tackles for loss, nine passes defended, six quarterback hurries and four forced fumbles. Scored one touchdown and averaged 17 yards on his five receptions as a tight end. • Made 112 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and two sacks as a junior. ALL-STAR GAMES AND CAMPS • Attended team camps at Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan and North Carolina. • Played on the U.S. Under-19 National Team in the International Bowl that competed against Team Canada Feb. 7 at the University of Texas at Arlington. RECRUITMENT • Committed to Notre Dame on July 3, 2012, and was the first member of the 2014 recruiting class. • Recruited to Notre Dame by tight ends coach Scott Booker. • Made one unofficial visit in October 2012 and attended Junior Day on March 23, 2013. NOTABLE • Born on June 6, 1995. • All-state pitcher and third basemen in base- ball as a junior, and a starting point guard for the Woodberry Forest basketball team. • Played with current Irish players C.J. Prosise, a sophomore wide receiver, and Doug Randolph, a freshman linebacker, at Woodberry Forest. 2014 PROJECTION • Likely to redshirt during his first season at Notre Dame. THEY SAID IT Brian Kelly's Comments: "Greer Martini is one of the smarter defensive players we signed. We got a chance to spend some time with him here on cam- pus. His leadership skills, his ability to recognize, and really you have to have leaders. "He's a really good player, and he's a really good leader. He'll be a very good linebacker for us here at Notre Dame and will also be a guy that makes others around him better." Tom Lemming Of Prep Football Report: "Greer is a Notre Dame type of kid. You worry about the competition he faced in high school, but he's got the attitude and the work ethic to impress people. He had a bigger frame than I thought. He's a guy that really will benefit from a redshirt year." Greer On Why He Chose Notre Dame: "It just felt right when I was on campus. It's so rich in tradition — you are part of something that's much bigger than yourself. I thought of all the great players that have put on the gold helmet, and it drew me to that."
