FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP Recruiting Notes • Apopka, Fla., five-star offensive tackle Martez Ivey added an of- fer from Notre Dame Jan. 30. The 6-6, 280-pound prospect holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina and others, but maintains that visiting South Bend is a priority for him this summer. "[Running backs] Coach [Tony] Alford tells me a lot about the school and says it's a great place to be, and I'd see that if I visited," Ivey said. "If I can make time, I'll probably camp up there this summer." 247Sports ranks Ivey as the No. 6 player in the country, the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 1 prospect in Florida. • Pompano Beach (Fla.) Monarch wide receiver/safety Shawn Burgess-Becker is one of the nation's top overall athletes. The 6-1, 185-pound recruit has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami and others. Notre Dame offered him Feb. 5 and like Ivey, he credited Alford for his interest in the Irish. "Coach Alford is real cool," Burgess-Becker said. "He keeps it real with me and just tells it like it is. I really like his honesty about recruiting and Notre Dame." 247Sports ranks Burgess-Becker as the No. 73 player in the nation, the No. 7 athlete in the country and the No. 15 prospect in Florida. • Jacksonville, Fla., safety Ben Edwards holds offers from Auburn, North Carolina, Ohio State and Stanford, and Notre Dame added its name to that list Jan. 16. The 6-0, 196-pound safety is leaning toward playing ball in the Southeastern Conference, but a decision isn't likely to come until he takes a few trips, including one to South Bend. "I'd like to get to Ohio State and Notre Dame before I make a decision or a commitment," Edwards said. "It would be a mistake to not look at all my top schools and check out those schools first. I don't want to decom- mit, so I'd like to get to both schools this summer." 247Sports ranks Edwards as the No. 379 player in the nation, the No. 22 safety in the land and the No. 46 recruit in Florida. — Tom Loy Follow @TomLoy247 on Twitter.
