MICHIGAN RECRUITING Chris Clark is the nation's No. 7 player at his position and the No. 176 overall prospect. The 6-6, 245-pounder named Michigan his favorite school after an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor. He plans to make a return trip to Michigan in late June before announcing his col- lege commitment at Nike's The Open- ing elite camp July 6-8 in Beaverton Ore. Clark decommited after an early pledge to North Carolina, and the Midwest appears to be his likely des- tination. A trip to Notre Dame could be the main obstacle to Michigan land- ing him. While he has already been to both South Bend and Ann Arbor, there is family pressure for him to strongly consider the Irish in the end. Another East Coast star also plans to make it back to Michigan one time before announcing his college com- mitment. Lawrenceville (N.J.) High four-star offensive lineman Grant Newsome cuts an intimidating figure at 6-7, 280 pounds, and he has earned a four-star ranking and is the No. 30 offensive tackle nationally. Newsome will visit U-M June 6-7, immediately after seeing his other fa- vorite, Penn State, over the prior two days. Like Clark, he tentatively plans to make a decision in early July. New- some is hopeful to visit a host of SEC schools — namely Alabama and LSU — between the trips to the Midwest and his final decision. TY ISAAC AN OPTION? Michigan was spurned in the 2013 class by Joliet (Ill.) Catholic Academy running back Ty Isaac, who opted to sign with USC. U-M rebounded, actu- ally reeling in a higher-ranked tail- back (Derrick Green was the nation's top runner and No. 6 overall prospect, while Isaac wasn't far behind as the No. 4 running back and No. 27 overall player). However, another five-star runner would have been a welcome addition. The Wolverines may end up with MISCELLANEOUS NOTES • Although he hasn't released the list yet, Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven linebacker Joshua McMillon plans to trim his list to 10 soon. The 6-3, 246-pound rising senior, the No. 69 player and No. 4 outside linebacker nationally according to Rivals.com, has leaked three of the teams that will make the list, with Michigan join- ing Auburn and Alabama in his group. • One of Michigan's top positions of need is defensive end, and one of the nation's best at that role has the Maize and Blue in his top 10. Lincoln- ton (N.C.) High defensive end Darian Roseboro is a physically impressive 6-4, 283-pounder. He is listed as the No. 5 strongside defensive end and No. 45 overall player in the country by Rivals.com. He has trimmed his list to Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida, LSU, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Ohio State and Tennessee, along with the Wolverines. Roseboro took an unof- ficial visit to Michigan in the early spring and plans to return to Ann Ar- bor this summer before a late August college commitment.
