FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP Those same sources believe that Jamabo will leave the Lone Star State for college, with Notre Dame and UCLA looking like the potential benefactors. Another interesting note is that Jamabo's best friend is a Notre Dame fan and he, along with Jamabo's older brother, told Blue & Gold Illustrated that they would like to see him end up in South Bend. Per 247Sports, Jamabo is the No. 117 player in the country, the nation's No. 12 running back and the No. 12 prospect in Texas. • Although LSU has held a commitment from Baton Rouge, La., four-star running back Nick Brossette since last summer, sources close to the situation have stated that he is becoming more interested in leaving the state. There are certain factors pertaining to his family that could end up keeping him close to home, but Brossette continues to look around and talk with other schools. During a conversation at The Opening, Brossette stated that he hasn't completely shut the door on schools such as Notre Dame, Florida State, Ole Miss and Texas. He will likely take official visits before wrapping up his recruit- ment and those four, along with LSU, will likely get visits. Both recruits have stated publicly that the fact that Notre Dame didn't take a running back in 2013 is very alluring. Look for the Louisiana native to take an official visit to South Bend and strongly consider the Irish before shutting down his recruitment. Per 247Sports, Brossette is the nation's No. 126 overall recruit, the No. 13 running back in the country and the No. 7 player in Louisiana. • Notre Dame suffered a major blow to its 2015 class when five-star Corona, Calif., signal-caller Blake Barnett decommitted from the Irish on June 4. The 6-4, 200-pounder chose to commit to Alabama on June 18 and put his talents on display in a big way during The Opening, an invite-only for the nation's top prep players held in Beaverton, Ore. Barnett won the Elite 11 quarterback competition, led his team to a championship during the seven-on-seven tournament and was named MVP of the entire event. It's not likely that Notre Dame will pursue another quarterback in this class. — Tom Loy Follow @TomLoy247 on Twitter. For daily recruiting updates, log on to BlueandGold.com.
