SPOILING SPARTY'S PERFECT SEASON
No one watching it would have
ever expected it Sept. 21, but Notre
Dame's 17‑13 defeat of Michigan State
ultimately stood as the Spartans' lone
loss of the season. In one of the most
impressive campaigns in school his‑
tory, Michigan State finished 13‑1 with

otherwise undefeated Michigan State
squad in the BCS National Champion‑
ship Game.
Notre Dame accrued only 220 to‑
tal yards to Michigan State' 254, and
it marked the third consecutive con‑
test that a Big Ten defense held the
Fighting Irish to less than 100 rushing
yards, but the defense held up against
the Spartans' mediocre quarterback
production.
