Despite a stocky build that most people expect to limit him to strict run-stuffing duties, he has shown the athleticism to drop into coverage and rush the passer, making him a more complete prospect. This season, he will be more comfortable in his second year at Lawrence Central, and his talent — along with that of defensive tackle Eric Whitehead and running back James Gilbert, three-stars in the senior class — should help the Bears put together a better year. While his height may prevent him from being a top-100 player, he has a bit of room to move up the rankings. Continuing his production while stepping up his team leadership will be the route to that outcome. S TYREE KINNEL 5-11, 197 • Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne Four-star prospect, No. 8 player in Ohio, and No. 10 safety and No. 193 overall recruit in the country Kinnel was on Michigan's radar early, and although he didn't get an offer from the Wolverines until after the likes of Arkansas and Kentucky had already entered the mix. Alabama followed with an offer after his pledge to the Maize and Blue. He once had the look of a high three-star prospect, but has put in the work to become a solid four-star. He had a good junior season for Huber Heights Wayne, helping lead the Warriors to an 11-2 record and the third round of the state playoffs in Ohio's largest division. He re- corded 60 tackles on the year, and intercepted three passes while forcing four fumbles to account for seven caused turnovers. He only played on defense for Wayne. In the time since, he impressed enough at the Rivals Camp Series stop in Columbus, Ohio, to earn an invitation to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in Baltimore, where he had a nice performance. He has continued to pad his résumé as a top-200 player without adding positive or negative changes to his body of work.
