signed 27 recruits in Rich Ro-
driguez's second full recruit-
ing class at U-M, but only
eight would wear the winged helmet
throughout their eligibility. Of those
eight, just quarterback Devin Gard-
ner, linebacker Jake Ryan and punter
Will Hagerup remain, giving the
Wolverines their fewest fifth-year se-
niors in at least the past two decades.
Some of the departures occurred
immediately — cornerback Demar
Dorsey was never granted admission
to Michigan — while others, such as
linebacker Davion Rogers and tail-
back Austin White, did not survive
their first fall camp. A few more left
within the first two months, and then
others followed. And then more. And
then more.
