BASKETBALL RECRUITING
Dozier said.
"It's not true," he said. "I'm telling
you, it's truly pretty even. I definitely
wouldn't say they were the leader.
Everyone is even right now, and we
wouldn't be going up to Michigan if
we weren't serious about them."
Though anything can happen, he
added, the five on the visit list are
likely his son's final five.
"He wouldn't have picked these five
if they weren't the ones he was plan‑
ning on going to," Perry Dozier said.
"But we were just discussing Michi‑
gan again. He loves the style of play,
enjoys the coaching staff already … a
lot of good things. And they are more
or less recruiting him for the right po‑
sition. There are a lot of schools he
liked that weeded themselves out be‑
cause they weren't.
"We've been grooming him to play
with the ball in his hands his whole
life. He's shown he can score the ball,
shoot, play on the wing, all those
things, and some schools said they
weren't looking at him [as a point
guard] because of how good he is
there."
Dozier's father, uncle and sister all
played at South Carolina, but Dozier
has said the family ties wouldn't give
the Gamecocks an edge. We'll see if
that holds true.
Dozier was the only 2015 prospect
slated to visit U‑M as of early August,
but a much‑heralded 2016 shooting
guard made a visit to Ann Arbor on
Aug. 8.
