UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Lauren Bohaboy — Soccer Notre Dame's leading goal scorer from a year ago is picking up where she left off, scoring twice in a 3-0 victory over Oakland in the home opener Aug. 24. She scored seven goals in 2013 and is expected to lead a versatile offensive attack in her senior sea- son. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native also scored a goal in each of the team's two exhibition games. Patrick Grahek — Golf One of three Irish golfers to make the Division I Cleveland Golf/ Srixon All-America Scholars list this past year, Grahek is Notre Dame's top returning contributor in terms of stroke average. The senior had three top 25 finishes last spring. His 74.0 stroke aver- age and a GPA higher than 3.2 qualified him for the award. Gradu- ate Niall Platt and senior Tyler Wingo also won the honor, giving the Irish multiple winners in back-to-back years for the first time. Catherine Mulquin — Swimming The sophomore finished 13th in the country in the 50-meter backstroke while at the Phillips 66 National Championships in August. She swam a career-best time of 29.2 seconds to win a head-to-head swim-off and earn a spot in the finals. She also clocked a 1:03.56 in the 100-meter race, which was the 40th- best time in the nation. Mulquin said spending the summer training in South Bend helped push her to her personal-best time. Brianna Turner — Basketball The incoming freshman picked up some jewelry to match Notre Dame's Golden Dome on her way to campus this summer — a gold medal at the FIBA Americas U18 World Championship. The Texan and National Team captain averaged 13.6 points per game for the U.S. squad. This is Turner's fifth gold medal as a member of the USA Basketball program. Earlier in the summer, she won the Gatorade National High School Athlete of the Year award. TOP OF THE CLASS
