Getting To Know … SENIOR KICKER/PUNTER KYLE BRINDZA ✦ GIMME FIVE In the 2014 opener against Rice, Notre Dame senior quarterback Everett Golson tied a single-game school record with three rushing touchdowns from the signal-caller position, a mark first set by Paul Hornung (1956 versus North Car- olina) and then matched in 1998 by Jarious Jackson (1998 against Stanford). As a sophomore in 2012, Golson posted six rushing touchdowns to pace the team, and it marked the second time in three seasons un- der head coach Brian Kelly that a quarterback led the team in rush- ing scores. In Kelly's first season (2010), Dayne Crist was tops in that area with four. The single-season school record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback is nine by Tony Rice during the 1988 march toward the national title. Here is the list of top five career touchdowns scored by Notre Dame quarterbacks, with bowl games, if applicable, included: Quarterback (Years) TD Runs 1. Tony Rice (1987-89) 23 2. Rick Mirer (1989-92) 17 3t. Terry Hanratty (1966-68) 16 3t. Joe Theismann (1968-70) 16 3t. Joe Montana (1975-78) 16 Also reaching double digits were Jackson with 14 (1996-99), Hor- nung with 13 (1954-56) and Tom Clements with 12 (1972-74).
