PREP PROFILES If you're a quarterback with double- digit offers at the beginning of your junior season, you're obviously pretty special on the field. When you've had most of them since you were a sopho- more, that means you are among the elite. That's the case w i t h C o l u m b u s (Ga.) Carver signal- caller Jawon Pass. Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Mississippi State, North Caro- lina, North Caro- lina State and Texas A&M have offered the class of 2016 prospect, and Notre Dame added its name to the list March 16. "I talked to [quarterbacks coach Matt] LaFleur on the phone, and he let me know I had the offer," Pass said. "He was telling me that I was one of his top guys in my class and that I'd make him a better coach if I came there. "I really didn't expect the offer. It's pretty crazy. It really means a lot to know that they want me to be their first quarterback offer in my class." Pass isn't in a hurry to make any de- cisions and isn't claiming any leaders at this time. He said that Notre Dame and the other schools that have offered are all equal at this point. One decision he did make was getting to South Bend. Pass visited Notre Dame in June and was blown away by the experience. "I just wanted to see what it was like there," he said. "It was pretty special. It's not like all of the other schools. It's different, but in a good way. They really showed me a lot of love, and I felt at home there. "The coaching staff all made time for me and showed me that I'm a pri- ority. They were re- ally friendly, intro- duced me to the players and showed me everything there was to see on cam- pus." Pass knows all about Everett Golson, Notre Dame's dual-threat quarterback. He plans to continue watching him closely this season. "He's been awesome this year," Pass noted. "I fit good in that system just like he does. It gives me a chance to use my legs and arm to beat people. He's been fun to watch this year, and he's only going to continue getting better." Pass claims a 3.5 GPA and said that he's doing well in school and on track to qualify academically when that time comes. — Tom Loy Georgia Four-Star QB Calls Notre Dame Special JAWON PASS ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Carver High School Columbus, Ga.
