GAME PREVIEW: SYRACUSE NOTRE DAME RUNNING GAME VS. SYRACUSE RUN DEFENSE Only one Football Bowl Subdivision team did not allow a 100-yard rusher in 2013 — Syracuse. To open the season, however, the Orange permitted Villanova's dual-threat quarterback John Robertson to run for 115 yards. All told, Villanova — a Foot- ball Championship Subdivision team — gashed the Orange for 190 yards, though averaging only 3.2 yards per carry. The losses of tackles Jay Bromley (nine sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss) and Zian Jones appear to be more costly than expected. Senior line- backer Cameron Lynch led the way for the defense in Senior linebacker Cameron Lynch opened the season by notching a team-high 15 tackles, including a sack, against Villanova.
