FOOTBALL RECRUITING Chargers linebacker (and Michigan alum) Jonas Mouton is his cousin — and had an excellent visit for the Barbecue at The Big House recruiting event in July. U-M is in his final five along with Texas Tech, Mississippi State and local Sun Belt schools. Al- though he plans a fall decision, an official trip to Ann Arbor is possible regardless of whether it comes before his commitment. KEISEAN LUCIER-SOUTH Orange (Calif.) Lutheran 6-4, 211 pounds No. 3 outside linebacker and No. 30 overall player nationally Lucier-South is a five-star prospect and one of the top targets remaining on Michigan's board. Many schools are recruiting him as an outside linebacker, but the Wolverines still like him at his original position of weakside defensive end. Michigan (where he'll take an official Oct. 11) and UCLA are considered his two favorites, with Florida, Oklahoma, and Oregon also in the mix. TYRONE WHEATLEY JR. Buffalo (N.Y.) Canisius Prep 6-6, 245 pounds No. 15 strongside defensive end and No. 246 overall player nationally Wheatley could fit in at this posi- tion (where he's ranked by Rivals. com) rather than tight end if Michi- gan wants to secure the legacy prospect in the class. Although he's primarily a strongside player, like Roseboro, each is a good enough ath- lete that one of them could play on the weakside. LINEBACKER Indianapolis Lawrence Central star Darrin Kirkland Jr. is Indiana's top 2015 prospect, and the No. 7 inside linebacker and No. 167 overall player nationally. The 6-1, 233-pounder is a pure middle linebacker. With that middle linebacker in the fold, Michigan is still in search of an outside linebacker. A long, lean complement to the shorter and stock- Michigan and UCLA are considered the favor- ites to land Orange (Calif.)
