MICHIGAN RECRUITING Bolden and Kaleb Ringer, along with safety Jarrod Wilson — did so in the 2012 class. While Ringer suffered a knee injury and transferred to Divi- sion II Ferris State prior to his sopho- more year, Bolden and Wilson are both multi-year starters already for the Wolverines. The 2013 group of early enroll- ees was even larger. Offensive linemen Kyle Bosch and Logan Tuley-Tillman, tight end Jake Butt, defensive end Taco Charlton, ath- lete Ross Douglas and safety Dy- monte Thomas all made their way to Ann Arbor in January 2013. Bosch, Butt, Charlton, and Thomas all saw the field as true freshmen last fall, thanks in no small part to the prepa- ration they were able to experience during spring practice and the phys- ical gains that the weight room pro- vided them with during their first semester on campus. Another large group arrived in Jan- uary this year, as well. Wide receiv- ers Freddy Canteen and Drake Har- ris, offensive lineman Mason Cole, linebacker Michael Ferns, defensive tackle Bryan Mone, quarterback Wil- ton Speight and defensive back Bran- don Watson all joined the Wolverines for the winter semester. That's seven of 16 total signees, nearly half the class. Canteen, Cole and Mone have already seen the field, while the rest project to redshirt. Plans are in motion for a number of 2015 recruits to join the Wolverines a semester early, as well. That includes three of the top four prospects in the state of Michigan. The Great Lakes State's top player is Saginaw (Mich.) Heritage athlete Brian Cole. The 6-2, 190-pounder is the No. 5 athlete and No. 89 overall prospect nationally, and he will play wide receiver at Michigan. That ex- perience will begin in January, when he arrives at U-M a semester before most of his classmates. Detroit Cass Tech running back Mike Weber is undecided on whether he'll head to Michigan early, but he has set up his class schedule such that he'll have the option. The No. 2 in-state player is the No. 11 running back and No. 104 overall player na- tionally. The 5-10, 205-pound runner will be able to graduate from Cass Saginaw (Mich.) Heritage athlete Brian Cole, the No. 5 athlete and No. 89 overall prospect nationally according to Rivals.com, plans to enroll early at U‑M. PHOTO BY TIM SULLIVAN
